Impact of Grid Strength and Impedance Characteristics on the Maximum Power Transfer Capability of Grid-Connected Inverters

Continuously expanding deployments of distributed power generation systems are transforming conventional centralized grids into mixed electrical networks. The higher penetration and longer distance from the renewable energy source to main grid result in lower strength, which stimulates limitation problem. Aimed at this problem, case studies inductive resistive impedance with different strengths have been carried out evaluate maximum transfer capability grid-connected inverters. It is revealed that a short circuit ratio (SCR) or resistance-inductance (R/X) provide capability. Moreover, under conditions, voltage point common coupling (PCC) beneficial increase Based on mathematical analysis, curves can be found. performance index proposed paper quantify system parameter values. Finally, effectiveness analysis verified by simulation.
